Latest This Week – Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga & Swami Vivekananda

This has been another exciting week at the World Yoga Forum. This week marks the completion of Raja Yoga by Swami Vivekananda as committed last week.

Raja Yoga is Swami Vivekananda‘s interpretation of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. It has been a seminal work on Yoga and has helped spread the ancient knowledge of Yoga. We’ve completed the book.

The book is comprised of multiple chapters, which introduce the practice of yoga, and then subsequently explain the sutras (aphorisms) by Patanjali. At its core Raja Yoga has 4 chapters, which explain the 195 Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

The Path of Devotion – Bhakti Yoga by Swami Vivekananda

We’ve also started the 2nd part in the series of Swami Vivekananda, where we elaborate on his work – Bhakti Yoga. We’ve completed the first 2 chapters of Bhakti Yoga (below) this week. The goals is to complete all the 10 chapters of Bhakti Yoga by this week.

Bhakti Yoga is one of the key literary works by Swami Vivekananda, where he has discussed the path of devotion (bhakti) in detail. Bhakti yoga, also called the bhakti marga or the path of devotion is a spiritual practice within Hinduism. It is one of the three paths in Hinduism which lead to Moksha (salvation), the other paths being Jnana yoga and Karma yoga.

Bhakti Yoga 1: Prayer – Swami Vivekananda

This is the 1st chapter of the series on Bhakti Yoga by Swami Vivekananda. Bhakti Yoga is one of the key literary works by Swami Vivekananda, where he has discussed the path of devotion (bhakti) in detail “He is the Soul of the Universe; He is Immortal; His is the Rulership; He is the All-knowing, the All-pervading, the Protector of the Universe, the Eternal Ruler. Bhakti Yoga 2: Philosophy of Ishvara – Swami Vivekananda

This is the 2nd chapter of the series on Bhakti Yoga by Swami Vivekananda. Bhakti Yoga is one of the key literary works by Swami Vivekananda, where he has discussed the path of devotion (bhakti) in detail. Who is Ishvara (god)? Janmadyasya yatah — “From whom is the birth, continuation, and dissolution of the universe,” — He is Ishvara — “the Eternal, the Pure, the Ever-Free, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Merciful, the Teacher of all teachers”; and above all, Sa Ishvarah anirvachaniya-premasvarupah — “He the Lord is, of His own nature, inexpressible Love.” These certainly are the definitions of a Personal God.…
